"Surround yourself with great people... and empower them to make a meaningful and lasting difference."

- Boyd Yarbrough

Those words of wisdom guide Boyd Yarbrough in his role as President of Elite. As President, Boyd oversees all areas of the company - from facility development and operations to information technology, business-office operations and physician recruiting. He's also in charge of all financial aspects of the company - including business financing, loans and insurance.

As one of the founding partners of Elite, Boyd left his previous company of 15 years for "the chance to have an ownership stake in an organization and literally build it from the ground up." And he's done exactly that. Elite now has four surgical facilities fully staffed and operational - and other facilities currently under development.

"It's been nothing short of rewarding to watch this company grow, and it's great to hear all the positive feedback we're getting from physicians and patients alike," said Boyd, who serves on the boards of the Patient Choice Coalition, Greater Houston Healthcare Alliance, La Porte Community Church and the La Porte TIFI organization.

In commenting on how he accomplished all the aforementioned during the worst recession this country has experienced since the Great Depression, Boyd said, "We couldn't put all our eggs in one basket. We had to think outside the box, develop different marketing strategies, and figure out ways to network and leverage relationships within the industry. Most importantly, we had to have faith... confidence... and the will to never give up no matter what curve ball was thrown our way."

Boyd credits the "stellar" Elite team and the company's "winning philosophy" as keys to why the organization has come out on top during troubling economic times. "We're certainly not the biggest company of our kind out there - but we definitely strive to be the best. If we have two surgery centers or 20 surgery centers... we want them to be the best two or 20 surgery centers in the country."

Prior to joining Elite, Boyd was in charge of the South Texas Region for Glazer's - one of the largest beverage distributors in the United States. During his 15 years with the company, he led more than 150 managers and sales representatives, and managed more than $100 million in annual revenue.

When away from work, Boyd loves to spend time with family and friends - specifically his wife Leslie, his son Max, and his daughter Malorie. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and coaching his son's baseball and football teams.

In response to what's next in terms of his role with Elite, Boyd says he's looking forward to continuing to build the company and reinforcing its reputation each and every day as being the "best-of-the-best" in all its business activities and ventures.
